Jamie’s heartwarming journey with Lucy began when Lucy was left behind in a neighborhood where construction was taking place. Lucy’s family was nowhere to be found, and Jamie wasn’t sure what happened to them. Fortunately, someone found her and brought her to a rescue group. Jamie, who is in contact with many Rapid Rescue groups, was asked to rehabilitate her and get her more medical attention.

Lucy was the size of a little hamster when Jamie first got her, and she wasn’t able to see very well. Jamie had to feed her every two to three hours and give her nebulizing treatments. Although Lucy wasn’t happy about going into the box, she sat there so well, and Jamie knew that it was good for her.

Jamie spent many sleepless nights caring for Lucy, bringing her to the vet three to four times a week for evaluations. It was a significant commitment, both financially and time-consuming, but Jamie stopped doing everything else and gave Lucy the care she needed. Lucy always had a desire to live, and she was a fighter.

Lucy is a little behind with certain things, such as climbing, but she is doing great. She has a sassy personality and is a little different than Louie, another rescue group member. She can be a bit more mischievous and very energetic. Louie and Lucy have formed an amazing bond, even though Louie is a lot bigger than her. Lucy is the boss, and it’s really cute when she jumps on Louie’s back and wrestles with him.

Although Lucy is not releasable at this point, Jamie is hoping to work with her so she’ll get comfortable climbing trees and being outside more. Jamie is proud of Lucy because she was such a strong little fighter from the beginning and never gave up.
