Days of Our Lives spoilers recap for Wednesday, September 4, reveals that fake Abigail covered after realizing Stephanie overheard part of her phone call.
“Abby” pretended she was discussing her treatment plan with Dr. Kayla Johnson.
After Stephanie introduced herself as Abigail’s cousin, she mentioned that Kayla was her mom and reassured “Abby” that she was just friends with Chad now, adding that he never truly moved on from Abigail.
After reminiscing, “Abigail” apologized for not remembering their friendship.
Stephanie offered to let her move in, but “Abby” declined, saying she was fine at the DiMera mansion.
At Stephanie’s home, Steve got help from Kayla after struggling with the garbage disposal.
The conversation shifted to “Abigail,” and Kayla noted that Jennifer was the only one struggling to accept her as the real Abby.
Steve pointed out past errors with DNA tests at the hospital, but Kayla was confident in her work and trusted Dr. Mark Greene, the other person involved.
When Stephanie returned home, she mentioned that “Abigail” had spoken to Kayla earlier, but Kayla denied talking to her that day, leading Stephanie to question why “Abby” would lie.
Steve seemed suspicious, sensing that “Abigail” might be hiding something.
In the town square, Leo informed Chad about his new job at Body and Soul and hinted at a storyline based on the “Abigail” situation.
Chad argued that the DNA results confirmed her identity, but Leo dismissed the validity of DNA results in soaps.
The discussion shifted to Leo’s love life, where he shared his crush on Mark and the disappointment of finding out Mark wasn’t gay.
Meanwhile, at the hospital, Mark expressed his frustration with Aaron posing as Tate at lacrosse camp but acknowledged Aaron’s good heart.
Aaron joked about Mark’s perfect past, but Mark hinted that he had made mistakes too.
They also discussed Brady’s hit-and-run case and Mark’s concern for Sarah, as the incident reminded him of their parents’ car crash.
Later, Mark met up with “Abigail” in the park, where she commented on Stephanie’s kindness and admitted that deceiving everyone was becoming overwhelming.
Mark comforted her, emphasizing that her real family was there for her, and they affectionately referred to each other as “bro” and “sis.”
At the DiMera mansion, Stefan discovered Gabi’s clothes on the floor and realized that she had slept with EJ.
In a fit of anger, Stefan punched EJ, and Gabi had to intervene as EJ almost retaliated.
Stefan assumed EJ had taken advantage of Gabi, but she confessed that she seduced EJ as revenge.
While EJ went downstairs for ice, Stefan expressed his fury at Gabi for ruining their marriage with her calculated actions, and he decided he was done fighting for their relationship.
Both were emotional as they confronted each other over their betrayals.
Gabi admitted that she regretted her actions but was relieved the truth came out, as lying would have made her just as guilty.
