Thursday September 5, 2024: Today on Young and Restless, Jack asks Lily why she agreed to work with Billy, Kyle inquires about Claire’s arrangement, and Victor updates Nikki on his conversation with Lily.

Wednesday’s recap: Lucy faces punishment, Katie confronts Billy about ignoring her for work, and Sharon appears jealous of Phyllis and Nick.

When Kyle arrives at the Abbott estate, Claire shows him that she has his son’s bag packed, including his books on metamorphosis.


CBS

She explains that it symbolizes how something ordinary can transform into something beautiful and take flight.

She then picks an eyelash off his cheek, asks him to blow it off her finger, and make a wish.


CBS

He says they need to talk.

Once they sit down, he points out that Harrison will now be in school all day so they should revisit their agreement.

She wonders if this means he doesn’t need her. “Of course I need you…for Harrison,” he says. It’s just not full time.

He doesn’t want to hold her back from something she wants. She assumes he’s talking about going to work with Nikki.


CBS

Kyle didn’t know about that. It means a lot to her that her grandma would after the job after all that’s happened.

The details are vague but she doesn’t know if it’s the right path now.

She’s still trying to figure out the way in so many areas of her life.

He can understand her not rushing since he’s the posterboy for what can go wrong when you do that.


CBS

She tells him she will be available to whatever he needs, whatever Harrison needs.

He agrees that his son needs her and thinks Summer is starting to see that too. He’s sorry Claire got caught in the crossfire.

They talk about how hard it has been on Harrison.


CBS

Claire says she would never leave until things are resolved. Kyle explains things have calmed considerably and they are looking for common ground

She’s happy for them.

He asks if she still wants to stay on as nanny. She doesn’t want to go any time soon.

Kyle says that Harrison wouldn’t be the only to miss her if she left.

She guessed he wished he wouldn’t have to find another nanny. She asks if they would still be friends if she stopped working for him.

He hopes so.

As things get awkward, she asks about house hunting. He asks her out for dinner and a movie. She’d like that.

She says she doesn’t care what anyone thinks and will do what she wants with who she wants.


CBS

They agree that everything will remain as it is for work.

In the Abbott Chancellor office, Billy reminds Chance that he’s in charge and it’s not in his job description to question what he does.


CBS

Chance reminds him that his name is still on the building. Billy doesn’t want to hear more.

They start bickering about his firing Lily and making choices without cause, just based on feelings.

Billy repeats he doesn’t trust anyone anymore and asks him what he wants.

As they argue, Billy suggests he should be more paranoid, not less.


CBS

Chance thinks he’s acting just like Devon. He’s bitten off more than he can chew and become erratic.

He doesn’t want to be collateral damage to one of his whims. He admits he’s talked to Jill and she’s worried.

Billy wishes he hadn’t gone behind his back. Chance refuses to let him drive the company off a cliff.


CBS

He points out that it’s just the two of them and both of their family names are on the building.

Chance wants to be his Co-CEO. Billy assumes this is a joke. He never had him down as the power grab type.


CBS

Chance says he learns fast and knows Billy deep down. If he couldn’t trust Lily, he can trust him. He’s happy to be the guy who has his back.

They can reassess when Jill comes back, but right now he wants to protect the company and that means protecting him,.

If he rejects this, Chance will walk.


CBS

Billy admires his gumption and asks for a five year plan so he can assess it and make his choice.

Chance sends him a ten year plan and walks out, sure he will see he’s the right man for the job.

Billy immediately flashes back to firing Lily.


CBS

Nikki joins Victor in his office. He fills her in on Lily wanting Billy out of the company as much as they do.


CBS

She’s shocked when he explains that Billy fired Lily. She’s sure Lily is looking for payback.

Her husband confirms it. She wants to reclaim her position at Chancellor.

Nikki points out that will be her position when they take over the company. This is a problem.


CBS

They are sure that lots of people will be jumping ship to get away from Billy.

Nikki is surprised that Lily tried negotiating with him. She hopes he’s not planning to give Lily the position she wants.

Her husband explains that there’s nothing wrong with letter her think that’s what she’ll get.


CBS

She’s not sure lying to Lily is the way to go. She wants a place for her but afraid she wants to be at the head of the table.

She’d like to be upfront with Lily about this. He suggests he lay out his terms and she can say yea or nay.


CBS

Lily runs into Jack at Society. They chat about the twins and then the topic turns to his brother.


CBS

She informs him that Billy has fired her. Jack is aghast.

She’s sure that his brother is afraid of her experience and talent. He apologizes for his brother and asks if she wants him to convince him he’s made a mistake.


CBS

They worry that Billy will go off the rails. She doesn’t think he career will survive that and worries what will happen to what Katherine built.

Jack wishes he had advice. He knows his brother is arrogant and still trying to prove himself.

He hoped he would outgrow his brashness but he takes any criticism as betrayal.

Lily is sure that Billy knows he’s on his last chance at vindication.

Jack wonders what this means. She can’t explain the details. He wonders why she stayed with Billy when she knows him as well as anyone else.

Why would she sign on to watching her own prospects implode?


CBS

She explains she cares about Katherine’s legacy and put a lot of time and effort into the company.

Jack thinks she’s the ally that his brother really needs. She admits his heart is usually in the right place. His mind…

Lily is sure Jack will be there to help Billy when everything blows up.

That sounds certain to Jack. He always tries to look out for his brother.

She’s sure that Billy has made himself vulnerable.


CBS

Telling her that he cares about Katherine’s legacy too, Jack tells her that she should be staying on, not Billy.

He is confident that she can fight her own battles but will try to open his brother’s eyes.


CBS

Once he exits, Victor calls her and asks her to the office to meet.


CBS

When Lily arrives at Victor’s office, she assumes they have a deal.


CBS

They sit and she explains she wants to regain her position as CEO. Victor wants to know if her inside information is useful before he agrees.


CBS

Jack storms into the Abbott Chancellor office and accuses his brother of self-sabotage. Billy doesn’t want to hear this.


CBS

His brother tells him not to let the business burn to the ground just because his personal life is a mess.

Billy demands that he support him and get out.
