Fiona had a brief affair with Brady, and on that particular night, he was too drunk to drive, so she tried to do the responsible thing by taking him home.
Unfortunately, when she turned to check on him in the back seat, she lost control and hit Sarah Kiriakis.
Though she hated framing Brady for the incident, Fiona feared that exposing their affair would not only ruin her reputation but also devastate her son, Xander Kiriakis.
Fiona was forced to admit the affair to Sarah, but Brady had already told Eric, making it common knowledge within the family.
This led Eric to confront Fiona, accusing her of being the driver. Unsurprisingly, Fiona attempts to lie her way out of it.

Eric’s suspicions regarding Fiona’s involvement in Sarah’s accident are bound to resurface, especially with the need to clear Brady’s name.
Although Eric has figured out the truth, it remains uncertain whether he buys Fiona’s lies. It’s likely that Eric will confide in Sarah about his theory, causing Sarah to worry about Xander’s reaction.
After all, Xander has already been prevented from attacking Brady with a baseball bat – what will he do when he learns the real driver was his own mother?
