A heart-wrenching video has gone viral on Facebook, depicting a female dog bravely shielding her three puppies from a brutal attack by a man. The poor dog was beaten with an iron bar, leaving her paralyzed from the waist down. She lay helpless on the street for four to five hours until a group of kind-hearted individuals learned of her plight and rushed to her rescue. When they found her, she was unable to move, but still had her three puppies huddled by her side.
The attacker claimed that he was teaching the dog a lesson, as she had chased his child away from the puppies. However, there was no harm done to the child, and it was only natural for a mother to protect her young. The man’s actions were not only cruel and unnecessary, but also posed a threat to other animals and even people.
The dog, whom the rescuers named Amal, was taken to a vet for treatment. X-rays revealed that her L2-L3 vertebrae were affected, but the vet is optimistic that the spinal infiltrations will help her walk again. If necessary, surgery is also an option. Despite her injuries, Amal remains in good spirits and enjoys being the center of attention. Her puppies are being fed with Royal Canin Starter until she can breastfeed them again.
Though Amal still has a long road to recovery ahead of her, she has already shown small signs of improvement. She recently sustained her weight for a few seconds and continues to keep a positive attitude. We have hope that with time and care, Amal will make a full recovery and be able to walk again.
