A heart-wrenching scene unfolded near a highway as a group of caring individuals stumbled upon a small, helpless creature left to fend for itself. The creature, a dog, was in a dire state – severely malnourished, weak, and bleeding from one eye. The dog struggled to chew food and could not stand up, leaving rescuers puzzled as to why someone would leave him in such a pitiful condition near a busy roadway.
“We can’t even imagine how much suffering he lived,” said one of the rescuers. “We rushed him to a clinic immediately.”
Upon examination, it was determined that the dog was estimated to be around 9 years old. He had lost one of his eyes, which explained the bleeding, and he weighed a mere 4 kilograms, resembling a bag of bones. In addition to his emaciated state, the dog was also found to have a perineal hernia, a testicular tumor, and skin problems. His prognosis was guarded, and he required hospitalization to receive the necessary care.
“We cleaned the lost eye to remove all the dead tissue around it,” shared one of the veterinary staff. “It was heartbreaking to see how much this poor old man had suffered in silence.”
Despite his ailments, the little dog showed a strong will to live. He had a good appetite, drank water, barked, and was able to defecate and urinate properly. The focus of his care now was to help him gain weight and improve his overall health.
“Dog’s a very handsome grumpy old man,” joked one of the caregivers. “But he’s eating with a lot of appetite and living a peaceful life, sleeping happily in his bed.”
The dog’s rescuers were baffled as to why someone would abandon a vulnerable animal in such a condition near a highway. They were grateful to have found him and were determined to provide him with the care and love he deserved.
“We will do everything we can to give him a chance at a better life,” said one of the rescuers. “He deserves to be surrounded by warmth and kindness in his twilight years.”
As the little dog continues his recovery journey, his caregivers remain hopeful for his future. They are amazed by his resilience and determination to overcome the challenges he has faced.
