A rescue operation was launched for a starving sheepdog found in Olszyna, Poland, and brought under the care of the Przylasek Shelter. However, despite being under the care of the shelter for two days, the dog’s health did not improve, and the decision was made to transport it to the VETKA veterinary clinic for specialized care.

The dog’s owner had reportedly gone abroad, leaving the animal in the care of his alcoholic brother, who had neglected the dog, leading to its dire state. Upon examination at the VETKA clinic in Świdnica, doctors were horrified by the dog’s condition.

The sheepdog was severely emaciated, with a body temperature of only 37 degrees Celsius, muscle atrophy, and a large, painful testicular tumor the size of two male fists. The dog also had sunken eyeballs, which were discharging pus. Additional tests revealed an overgrown prostate, problems with urination, a significantly enlarged bladder, and devastated kidneys.

The veterinary team at the clinic began intensive treatment on the dog, but the animal’s chances of recovery were still uncertain. The next day was going to be decisive for the dog, and doctors were hoping that the pooch would start eating.

The case has prompted outrage and calls for stricter laws against animal abuse and neglect. The sheepdog’s owner is expected to face legal consequences for abandoning the animal and leaving it in the care of an alcoholic.

Animal welfare groups have urged the public to support the dog’s treatment by making donations to cover its medical expenses.

This case highlights the importance of responsible pet ownership and the need for adequate laws and enforcement to protect animals from neglect and abuse. It is unacceptable that animals like this sheepdog are left to suffer because of the negligence of their owners.

As animal lovers, we must do our part in advocating for animal welfare and supporting organizations that work tirelessly to rescue and care for animals in need.
