Today, the District Court in Jelenia Góra sentenced Kamila H. – the owner of Marley, for abusing him. The dog kept at the Łomnickie Estate in Jelenia Góra on the day of collection was extremely neglected, had a disintegrating cancerous tumor the size of a melon, from which pus was oozing. The dog’s skin was covered with numerous fly larvae, he had an intense stench of rotten meat, and his matted coat contained more than 3 kg of feces. Flocks of flies were flying over the animal, and Marley was emaciated with hunger.
Despite repeated interventions of the “blind” City Guard from Jelenia Góra, nothing changed in the situation of the dying dog. Desperate neighbors decided to inform us. During the intervention, the torturer refused to treat the dog, and slammed the door in the Inspectors’ noses as a goodbye. Throughout the trial, she pleaded not guilty, claiming that she regularly took care of the dog, took it for walks and kept it on the sofa at home.
The court did not believe Kamila H.’s explanations – it found her guilty and sentenced her to 6 months of restriction of liberty, with the obligation to perform community service during this period, and also ruled on the case of a dog, a three-year ban on having any animals, and a fine of PLN 5,000 for the Inspectorate and court costs amounting to several thousand zlotys.
Despite the fact that the abuse of this dog was obvious, according to prosecutors Sebastian Ziembicki, Marcin Molenda and Maciej Bogucki, as well as the Mayor of Jelenia Góra, Jerzy Łużniak, the collection of this dog was unjustified, and the inspector who was saving him simply stole the dying animal. This idiotic action of the prosecutor’s office resulted in the President of the Board of DIOZ Konrad Kuźmiński having two charges in connection with the intervention with Kamila H., one of them is the theft of Marley, which was valued at PLN 501, and the other is a violation of the torturer’s home.
