We don’t even know what to write. How can we put into words the horror we have witnessed? How can we describe the emotions that arise when we see such suffering? It is impossible to pass by such a dog indifferently, not to react… and yet, there are those who do. Those who turn a blind eye, who remain inhumane.
Instead of lush fur, we see ribs protruding from the skin. Instead of dignity, we see a mouth full of wounds. The body is hot to the touch, covered with sores, scabs, and blood. This is not the effect of a few days, it is the image of many weeks of abuse inflicted upon a dog.
It is hard to comprehend how someone could be capable of such cruelty. How they could look at this animal and not see the suffering they have caused. Everyone should do as we do – take the dog to the clinic. So why are we doing this again? Why is it so hard to just be human?
This dog should be beautiful, healthy, and bold. It should be running and playing, wagging its tail in delight. But it isn’t. Instead, it cowers in fear, reacting with aggression at the sight of men. No wonder if its owner is an executioner. Because what else do you call someone who passes a dog in such a state every morning?
The scars on its face tell a story. A story of violence and abuse. We ask for help. Another dog in such a condition means more costs and, above all, many weeks under our care. Help us lift it. We’ll have to put it in the hospital for a few days and then in a hotel. Because a temporary home in such a case would be a miracle.
The costs of caring for this dog are immense. A few months of hoteling a dog costs PLN 3,000, plus examinations, treatment, vaccinations, deworming, and castration. It is not just about the financial burden, it is about the emotional toll this takes on those who care for these animals. The heartache of seeing such suffering and knowing that there are more animals out there who need our help.
The dog went to the hospital, and at that moment, scabies was found. Blood was also taken. More tests will be done tomorrow. The road to recovery will be long and difficult, but we will not give up on this dog. We will provide the love, care, and support it needs to heal.
But we cannot do this alone. We need the support of our community. We need more people to stand up against animal abuse. We need more people to report cases of animal cruelty. We need more people to foster and adopt rescue animals.
The reality is that animal abuse is a heartbreaking issue that affects us all. It is not just about one dog, it is about the countless animals out there who suffer at the hands of humans. It is time for us to take a stand, to be the voice for those who cannot speak for themselves.
