It’s said that love knows no bounds, and this story of a cat’s love for her deceased owner is a testament to that. The cat, whose name is unknown, has spent a year living at her owner’s grave in Central Java, Indonesia, ever since her owner passed away.

According to reports, the cat was first heard crying while lying in the earth at the burial plot. A passerby, Keli Keningau Prayitno, tried to adopt the cat but it returned to the same spot – nuzzling the small blue headstone. Despite being given food and water by passers-by, the cat refused to leave the grave, rolling in the earth and sleeping there every night.

Father-of-one Keli said: “Since the cat’s mother died she has stayed here at the grave. She does not want to go home. She has been here for almost a year.”

Keli thought the cat was homeless and tried to help, but every time he tried to take her away, she kept returning to the same place. “I saw her every day and noticed that she was always there, but sometimes would leave for a couple of hours then come back,” he said.

He followed the cat and discovered that the former owner had been an old lady called Kundari who had recently passed away. The cat walks to her former home every day where she is fed by the old lady’s children – then returns to the grave.

Despite being offered new homes, even a year later, the cat can still be seen at the grave night and day. Keli added: “We take some food and water to the cat but she still likes to go home. She’s at the grave every day.”

The story of the grieving cat has touched the hearts of many, and it has gone viral on social media. It’s a reminder of the unbreakable bond between pets and their owners, and how much they love us, even after we’re gone.
