Cooper’s condition stems from inbreeding. He was rescued from a dog breeding farm in Virginia at just two months old, where he had been abandoned by his owners because his deformity made him unprofitable. When first rescued, Cooper was in poor health, suffering from ticks, worms, and hernias.
