It’s heartwarming to hear that Africa (also known as Chele) has received help and care from kind people who rescued her from extreme malnutrition. It’s unfortunate that she had to endure such hardship, but it’s inspiring to see her resilience and the efforts made to improve her condition.
Africa’s journey included receiving medical attention at Servivet Veterinary. She underwent various tests, such as a distemper test, parvovirus test, hemogram, blood chemistries, and deworming. She also received medicated baths, vitamins, Bravecto, and vaccines. Despite her physical state, Africa still showed love and wagged her tail, demonstrating her spirit.
After being rescued from Brisas del Golf in Arraijan, Africa was given the name Chele and was given the opportunity to recover from her suffering. At only six months old, she was severely malnourished, weighing as much as a three or four-month-old puppy. It’s heart-wrenching to imagine how much pain she had experienced at such a young age.
Fortunately, all the necessary tests were conducted, including CBC, kidney and liver chemistries, and a distemper test. Chele was diagnosed with a hemoglobin level of 4.3, as well as erlichia and anaplasma infections. Despite her condition, the hope was that she would heal and find a loving family that would provide her with a good quality of life.
Chele went through a recovery process, which involved healing not only her body but also her heart. She received treatment for erlichia and anaplasma at Servivet Veterinary. Gradually, she regained her appetite, and it was expected that she would gain weight within 15 days. Due to the extent of her recovery, it was estimated that she would require over a month of hospitalization before being fully ready—neutered, with stable hemoglobin, free from hemoparasites, vaccinated, and healthy.
It’s heartwarming to hear that Chele’s recovery progress was observed, and she was able to eat and enjoy her meals. The dedication and care provided by the rescuers and medical professionals contributed to her transformation. Chele underwent sterilization and was expected to be discharged soon. The search for a beautiful home for her continued, as it was believed that she deserved a loving family after enduring so much suffering.
Chele’s story is a testament to the power of compassion and love for animals. The efforts of those involved in her rescue and recovery are truly commendable. May Chele find a forever home where she can live a happy and fulfilling life.
