Our hearts sank at the sight of a small baby girl found skin and bones, with her hair dyed blue. The hair dye caused irreparable damage to her immune system, and she suffered from allergic reactions, chemical burns, skin disease, and cancer. Her skin was infected, itchy, and inflamed, and we had to shave off what was left of her damaged body hair. The little puppy had been treated as an object to decorate and was extremely malnourished and anemic.
To make matters worse, she had been abandoned on the street to fend for herself. We could only imagine the physical and mental trauma she went through.
The puppy, now named Candy, had a long treatment ahead, and we ran more tests to detect any further damage. We gave her medicated baths twice weekly and watched her wounds slowly heal. Although she still itched a lot, her appetite increased, and she put on a lot of weight. Candy’s treatment had only just begun, and she still had a long way to go, but we knew she would get there.
After a lot of medical treatments, love, and care, Candy finally recovered and was able to fly to her forever home in the UK. Her mom did the impossible to get her home, and there she is now being spoiled and loved. The abused and abandoned puppy has found healing and love, and we are grateful for everyone who helped make it happen.
