Athena, a young dog with a fierce spirit, has captured the hearts of many after surviving a horrific ordeal. Just days ago, a passerby stumbled upon Athena lying in the middle of the road with her front legs missing and blood everywhere. Despite the severity of her injuries, Athena refused to give up and fought for her life.
Rescuers searched for Athena all night and finally found her the next morning under a house, covered in mud and wearing a heavy chain collar. Despite her wounds being days old, Athena remained alert and never once tried to bite her rescuers.
Athena was rushed to the ER where she received immediate medical attention. Her injuries were extensive, but she never lost her will to live. After receiving pain injections, Athena rested comfortably and slowly began to show signs of improvement.
Although Athena’s journey to recovery was long and difficult, she never gave up. She underwent several surgeries, including the possibility of full amputation of both front legs, but X-rays showed that she still had both elbows. With the help of prosthetics and physical therapy, Athena was able to learn to walk on her hind legs and became an inspiration to everyone around her.
After spending 43 days at the vet, Athena was finally able to leave the ER and was taken in by a loving foster family. With the help of a specially designed wheelchair, Athena was able to continue to thrive and show the world her unwavering spirit.
