Falafel was once a happy and healthy dog, but his life took a turn for the worse when he found himself lost on the streets. For weeks, he struggled to survive in a hostile and unforgiving world, and it wasn’t long before his once sleek and shiny fur became matted and dirty. His ribs were visible through his thin skin, and he was struggling with a severe case of lice.

The tiny parasites had infested his fur, causing him to scratch and bite at himself constantly. Despite his best efforts, he couldn’t seem to get rid of the lice. It was clear that he was miserable and in need of help.

Thankfully, Falafel’s luck changed when he was rescued and taken to a shelter. The staff immediately treated him for ectoparasites, and the more they removed, the more appeared. But Falafel was cooperative and allowed them to medicate him. He was missing an eye, and his diarrhea was severe.

It was clear that Falafel needed a lot of care and attention to recover. He was given slurry, which helped him to gain some much-needed weight. Once he was no longer crawling with lice, he was taken to a clinic for a blood test. The result was better than expected, but he still had a long way to go.

Falafel was treated with a slow IV infusion, electrolytes, activated charcoal, antibiotics, and probiotics to help with his extreme diarrhea. Slowly but surely, he began to recover. He was no longer sleeping curled up into a tight ball, and his energy levels increased. He was finally getting the nutrition he needed to thrive.

The staff at the shelter were pleased to see that Falafel was eating well, like a normal dog. His journey to recovery had been long and difficult, but he had made it through. Falafel’s story is a testament to the resilience of animals and the power of care and compassion.
