On September 8, 2019, our team rescued a little white dog named Zachary Amor. He came to us in an almost unrecognizable shape, a victim of extreme cruelty. His ears had been cut off, he was starved, and we suspect he had been a victim of sexual violence. His condition was so poor that he couldn’t stand up, and our vets couldn’t even read his temperature. He was so anemic that we were shocked he was still alive. We knew that Zachary was physically and emotionally traumatized, and we were unsure if he would survive.

But we didn’t give up on him, and neither did he. Dogs like Zachary are the reason we do what we do. Zachary never gave up, and we never gave up on him. With love, compassion, and intensive care, Zachary started to fight back. He needed two blood transfusions to be able to start the long road to recovery.

We were overjoyed when we saw that Zachary was feeling better. We couldn’t sleep and waited patiently for updates from our vets. When we received videos of Zachary’s progress, we cried tears of joy. He was getting stronger, and it was a testament to the love and care we had provided him.

Zachary still had a long way to go, but we were feeling a bit more positive. We continued to monitor him 24/7, and when he was strong enough, he was transferred to a foster home where he could begin his psychological healing.

Despite the horrific things that were done to him by humans, Zachary remained full of love and trust. He was scared of loud noises and strangers, but he loved the touch and pets of the people who looked after him. The sweetest thing was when his vet arrived, and Zachary just jumped up and got so excited and happy. This was the guy that saved his life, and Zachary loved the people that looked after him so much.

Zachary’s journey was a testament to the resilience of dogs. He fought to live despite what he had gone through. With lots of love and care, he started to heal, and he got stronger, healthier, and more confident. He was a happy pup once again.

After a long flight, Zachary’s new family gave him a new name – Cooper. We wished he could forget all the past and thrive to enjoy his new life ahead. Meeting his new foster mom was the best thing that ever happened to him, and he knew that his new home was where he belonged. Zachary loves his new life and his new fur siblings.

Zachary’s story is one of trauma, perseverance, and love. He is proof that dogs want to live and fight to live despite what they have gone through. We are proud of him and of the role we played in his recovery. Zachary’s journey from trauma to triumph is an inspiration to us all.
