Meet Addie, the resilient and loving dog who captured the hearts of everyone who crossed her path. Addie was abandoned on the street, heavily pregnant and with a blind eye. Fortunately, a report reached us in time, and we rushed to save her before she gave birth. We knew that Addie and her puppies would not survive on the harsh streets.

We took Addie to the vet for a thorough check-up. Despite her challenges, she was relatively healthy. Dr. Jeff did an initial eye exam and discovered that Addie was completely blind in her right eye. She also had a bad yeast infection in both ears, which was promptly treated. Her skin and coat were in poor condition, but we knew that with a good diet and medicated baths, she would recover once she was done nursing her litter.

The question on everyone’s minds was how many puppies Addie would have. On day 2, she gave birth to four boys and two girls. They were all strong and nursing well, with no cleft palates. Addie was coping admirably despite her circumstances. She took little naps while her puppies had their post-breakfast snacks on day 7.

As the days went by, Addie’s puppies grew and thrived. They were named Bowie, Cole, Dolly, Ella, Freddie, and George, and they brought joy and laughter to everyone who met them. On day 16, they were a bundle of puppy cuteness, and on day 17, they were full of playful energy in their whelping box.

Addie’s puppies reached three weeks old on day 22, and they were doing well, except for a little escapade that led us to modify their puppy area and remove the kiddie pool. Ella, one of the puppies, had a lot to say about it! Despite the mischief, Addie and her nuggets were all healthy and growing, ranging from 2 to 2.6 lbs.

On day 27, Addie and her little ones were all about love, and on day 31, they were awake and hungry, keeping us on our toes. Addie was a loving and attentive mother, always taking care of her puppies’ needs. Day 36 brought heartwarming moments between Addie and Freddie, one of her puppies.

As the days passed, Addie’s puppies continued to grow and develop their personalities. Ella and Cole were not bothered by the wobbly movements on day 44, and on day 51, there was playful morning time with the puppies. Day 56 brought new adventures as the puppies put on their sweaters and played outside like a pack of little hooligans, bringing laughter and joy to all who witnessed it.

Throughout the journey, Addie remained a loving and devoted mother, and she also joined in the fun with her puppies on day 59. She was a social and happy dog, always eager to play and interact with others. Despite her challenges, she was still looking for her forever home, and we knew she would make a wonderful companion for anyone who adopted her.

On day 70, Addie and her chubby nuggets were invited to the “Puppy Power Hour” at Central Bark, where they had a blast and displayed their confident and relaxed personalities. We were proud of how far they had come and the resilience they had shown.

Addie’s story is one of triumph over adversity. From being abandoned on the streets to becoming a loving mother and cherished member of our rescue community, Addie and her puppies have touched our hearts. We are grateful to have been part of their journey and continue to search for forever homes for them, knowing that they will bring endless love and joy to anyone who opens their heart to them.
