Our animals need you. Last week, I made a couple of videos explaining the situation of our rescue group, which is currently facing a terrible inflation and a widespread loss of donors. The situation is becoming more and more concerning, and that’s why this month, I will be making videos like this one to convey the urgency to our audience, to you

Today, I want to remind you of two animals that we rescued in the last few months, animals that would not have any chance without us, animals that would be dead without us. The first one is Alma, a dog rescued in Sevilla with a huge tumor hanging from her leg. She had spent some time on the streets, where people stoned and shot her, leaving her body full of pellets. When she arrived at the hospital, we spent a week preparing for the operation. The tumor was massive, four and a half kilos, and we didn’t know how it would go. Fortunately, it turned out not to be cancer, which saved her life. She then came to our refuge, La Casa Grande, a wonderful place where animals can recover and live magnificent lives until they are adopted. During this time, we have been working on her character, on the fear and panic she had for people. Little by little, we have managed to overcome it, and Alma is now completely different, about to be adopted.

I also want to remind you of Cookie, a Portuguese water dog who arrived unable to stand, trembling and convulsing. In the first few days, we didn’t know what was wrong with him, so we did all sorts of tests, from CT scans to muscle biopsies. Eventually, we found out that he has a neurodegenerative disease that has no cure or treatment. We are giving him all sorts of medicines, herbs, and homeopathic treatments, as well as physiotherapy. How many organizations can do this? Not many.

But the situation now is so dramatic. Inflation is at 10%, donors are leaving us, and we are losing organizations. Last week, three shelters closed here in Spain, and the week before that, three more. And those are just the cases that I found on Facebook. What happens to all those animals? How do we solve something as terrible as having to close a shelter?

That’s why I need to make these videos. That’s why I need you to understand that without you, none of this is possible, and everything will sink. That’s why I’m talking to the camera, the only way I know how to get your attention, to make a little space for us on your priority list.

The holiday season is approaching, a time when we try to get together with our families, a time for reflection, as one year ends and another begins. I need your help, I need you to continue standing by our side. Please, if you can, take something away from your shopping list, and try to help us. The lives of these animals are at stake, not only for the animals we have now, but also for the animals we will rescue in the future. Everything is at stake today, and that’s why I need to ask you, please donate, help me keep saving lives.

Thank you.
