Antonio’s truly amazing recovery would not have been possible for a weaker spirit. Advanced scabies had devastated his body, hunger had weakened him even more, and then, in the final blow, a serious wound between his shoulders had become infested with worms. We were not sure if the combination of these extremely painful conditions had broken his spirit along with his resilience. But from day 2 onwards, we saw in amazement how our medical treatment, food, and love kicked in. Meet the survivor of scabies, wound survivor, hunger survivor – the unforgettable Antonio.

Antonio’s story is one of resilience, strength, and the human capacity for recovery. When he arrived at our clinic, he was in a pitiful state. His body was covered in scabies, his skin raw and itching, and he was suffering from severe malnutrition. But what was most concerning was the large, gaping wound between his shoulders, which had become infested with worms.

At first, we were unsure if Antonio would even survive. His condition was so critical that we feared his spirit had been broken along with his body. But to our amazement, he began to show signs of life within just a few days of receiving treatment. His skin began to heal, and the itching subsided, and his appetite slowly returned.

But it was his spirit that truly impressed us. Despite the pain, the discomfort, and the trauma he had suffered, Antonio refused to give up. He was determined to survive, and he never lost faith in his own ability to recover.

As the days turned into weeks, Antonio’s recovery continued to astonish us. His wound began to heal, and the worms were eradicated. His skin grew softer and smoother, and his hair began to regrow. But it was his spirit that truly shone through. Despite the obstacles he had faced, Antonio remained positive and grateful, always smiling and always showing his appreciation for the care he was receiving.

Antonio’s recovery was not just a testament to his own strength and resilience. It was also a testament to the power of love and compassion. The care he received at our clinic was not just medical treatment, but a true expression of love and concern for his wellbeing. We treated him with respect, kindness, and empathy, and he responded with an equal measure of gratitude and affection.

Today, Antonio is a survivor in every sense of the word. He has overcome scabies, wounds, and hunger, and emerged stronger and more resilient than ever. His story is a reminder that even in the face of extreme adversity, the human spirit can shine through, and that someone who has suffered can once again shine brightly.
