A Story of Abandonment, Resilience, and Love

Aurora, a pregnant dog, was left abandoned and scared, wondering where her family was and what she did to deserve this. Her belly was too big, making it hard for her to breathe. Despite her heartbreaking situation, she bravely trusted the humans who came to her rescue.

A foster family stepped up to help, and MABBR (Mid-Atlantic Bully Breed Rescue) intervened. Sadly, Aurora’s previous owners declined any help with their dogs and claimed that they were fine. It is unimaginable how anyone could abandon a dog, let alone a pregnant one.

Ultrasound revealed that Aurora was carrying 8+ puppies. Her foster family took her on slow walks and talked to her to keep her calm. On December 12, 2022, Aurora gave birth to 13 puppies, all of whom were healthy, but three were diagnosed with heartworm.

Despite her abandonment and difficult circumstances, Aurora proved to be a great fighter and a loving mother to her puppies. Her journey is a reminder of the resilience and strength of animals, and the importance of love and care for those in need.

Aurora’s story also highlights the importance of responsible pet ownership and the devastating impact of neglect and abandonment. It is our responsibility to care for and love our pets, just as they unconditionally love and trust us.

As we celebrate Aurora’s resilience and the birth of her healthy puppies, let us also remember the countless other animals who are left abandoned and in need of our love and care. May Aurora’s story inspire us to be kind and compassionate to all creatures, great and small.
