Matilda was just a five-week-old puppy when she was left alone on the side of the road. She was not street conscious and was at risk of being run over by speeding vehicles. She was just a newborn, but she had already been neglected and ignored by passersby who pretended not to see her.

Thankfully, a kind person noticed Matilda and brought her to safety. She was severely anemic, had a swollen stomach due to parasites, a complicated skin condition, ticks, and had broken her left hind leg. Despite all this, she had a fighting spirit and was determined to survive.

The rescuers named her Matilda, hoping that the new name would give her the motivation to stay strong. They took her to the vet, where she received a treatment plan to help her recover. If all went well, she would be transferred to an isolation room to receive 24/7 care.

Matilda was not the only dog to be abandoned, but she was lucky enough to be seen in time. She was safe, but her journey to recovery was far from over. She needed food, medicine, vaccinations, sterilization, and emotional recovery.

Her rescuers worked tirelessly to provide Matilda with the care she needed. They supplemented her with the necessary treatments, fed her, and provided emotional support. Despite her petite appearance, they knew she was a fighter who would not give up.

Over time, Matilda gradually started to recover. Her wounds began to heal, and she gained strength and vitality. She slowly but surely became a healthy and happy dog.

Matilda’s story is a testament to the power of kindness and compassion towards animals. Her resilience and determination to survive despite her difficult circumstances serve as an inspiration to all of us. We hope her story encourages others to be kind and loving towards animals and to take action when they see an animal in need.
