At the same time, Hope has repeatedly indicated that she believes Thomas has turned his life around.
Another part of Hope appreciates Thomas’ devotion and wants to believe this is a healthier kind of love this time around.
Unfortunately, Hope can’t know for sure whether Thomas has truly found redemption without putting him to the test.
Could that be what this Xander-related phase of the storyline is really all about?
Perhaps The Bold and the Beautiful writers plan on proving that Thomas isn’t the man he used to be.
There’s only one way to do that – and it involves some terrible heartbreak for Thomas.
As long as Hope stays with Thomas and grants his biggest wish, she’ll never know what might happen if things fall apart.
Thomas finally has his dream girl, but what if that dream gets yanked away?
The old Thomas would spin out and do horrible things to get Hope back.
If Thomas heads down that path again, then his whole redemption will be a farce.
However, it’ll be a different story if Hope breaks Thomas’ heart and he responds in a healthy way.
What if Hope dumps Thomas and nothing happens other than his devastation?
If Thomas handles the split by crying into a pint of ice cream like everybody else, then Hope will know that she can trust his redemption.
In other words, Hope and Thomas’ temporary breakup just might be the best thing that ever happened to them as a couple.
Maybe Hope should dump Thomas and see how things play out in the aftermath.
It could be the perfect way for Hope to see that Thomas has genuinely changed for the better – that is if he actually has!
