The police had overlooked this notebook in the investigation of Abigail’s death. Chad is haunted by the memory of the gruesome scene.
She had been at home working on articles while he and the kids went to the movies. When he came back, he found her lifeless on the bed, covered in blood.
Chad is puzzled how she managed to write the note despite her condition, but her shaky handwriting, which he recognizes, indicates she knew she was dying.
As Chad reads his late wife’s last message, Eric contemplates stepping back into his former priest role to support Chad emotionally.
Abigail’s final message to Chad was her hope for him to find happiness with someone else after her death, someone who would also cherish their children as she did.
She also voiced concerns about how her parents would cope with her death.
Tragically, Abigail couldn’t identify her attacker, only noting it was a man in a ski mask and leaving no clues that it was Clyde.
The investigation into her death is set to reopen due to traces of blood found on the notebook, making it sticky.
While reopening the murder case might unsettle some, it provides Chad with some comfort knowing Abigail wanted him to find love again.
